The weeks are giong by quickly now. Our senior projects are coming up and we, as a class, are beginning to work on them. Our senior projects are about something that we care deeply about and believe in the thing that we do. To me, senior projects show us how to be leaders. We have to take the initiate and work together to come up with something greater than ourselves. Along with our senior projects teaching leadership, we also had the opportunity to watch some very influential Ted Talks. The talks gave us ideas and planted seeds that will eventually grow and blossom with the future leaders that the world needs. Also, the talks helped us to plan with our senior projects and show us how we can be leaders. For me, it made me realize that just because something didn't change the world, it doesn't mean it that it can't change someone's life. |

This was the first week of my last high school ELA class. This week I learned valuable lessons that showed me just how much of a reader and writer I am. On top of that, I learned that I have quite some time before I can be as accomplished of a writer as I am a reader. By showing me that I have room for improvement the activity that we did-writing paragraphs detailing our lives as readers and writers-will inspire me to become better at both of the subjects. We came to understand ourselves slightly better this week than we did previously. After surviving week one, I still wonder about the Ted Talk that we participated in and how it would make an impression on us in the long run. I participated regularly and with my whole attention for the entire week and will continue to delay the coming "senoritis" that many succumb to. While the ideas this week in class were few in number, they are invaluable to our lives as we continue to grow up. I've already learned that I can continue to write better and refine my skills in different environments and in different approaches than what I'm accustomed to. I can't wait for the weeks to come! |
